The Bukit Timah Line is a planned railway line in Singapore, designed to link the existing East West and North South Lines. Construction of the line began in 2009 and is expected to be completed by 2022.
The Bukit Timah Line is the first railway line in Singapore to be built in the 21st century. The line will stretch from Jurong East to Bukit Panjang, with a total distance of 17 kilometres. The line will feature 10 stations, including six interchanges with other existing lines. These stations are Jurong East, Clementi, Dover, Buona Vista, Commonwealth, Queenstown, Redhill, Bukit Panjang, Hillview and Bukit Timah.
The construction of the Bukit Timah Line is a major milestone for Singapore’s rail network. The line will significantly reduce the travelling time between Jurong East and Bukit Panjang, and provide better access to the western part of Singapore. It will also provide commuters with more choices and convenience when travelling within the western part of Singapore.
The construction of the Bukit Timah Line is divided into three stages. Stage 1, which began in 2009, involves the construction of four stations, including the interchanges at Jurong East, Clementi, Dover and Buona Vista. Stage 2, which began in 2010, involves the construction of four more stations, including the interchanges at Commonwealth, Queenstown, Redhill and Bukit Panjang. The final stage, which is expected to be completed by 2022, will involve the construction of two more stations, Hillview and Bukit Timah.
The construction of the Bukit Timah Line is expected to generate more than 10,000 jobs and increase the value of properties along the line by more than $2.5 billion. Once completed, the line will improve connectivity between the western part of Singapore and other parts of the island, allowing commuters to travel to different parts of Singapore more conveniently.
The Bukit Timah Line is a major step forward in Singapore’s efforts to develop its public transport network. The line will not only improve travel times between different parts of Singapore, but also provide Singaporeans with more choices in terms of their transport options.
The Bukit Timah Line, a commuter rail line connecting Bukit Timah and Pasir Ris, is an important part of Singapore’s transport infrastructure. Construction of Stage 1 of the line began in 2004 and was completed in 2008, and in 2009 the groundbreaking ceremony for Stage 2 of the line was held.
The Bukit Timah Line Stage 2 includes a new 7.2 km track and nine new stations, so that the total track length of the Bukit Timah Line will be extended by about 15 km. This new stage will run from Pasir Ris to Choa Chu Kang, with stops at Yew Tee, Choa Chu Kang North, Choa Chu Kang Central, Choa Chu Kang West, Bukit Panjang, Hillview, Dairy Farm, and Bukit Batok. The new line will better connect the northwest and southwest of Singapore, providing commuters with a more efficient travel option.
At the groundbreaking ceremony for Stage 2, several officials from the Land Transport Authority (LTA) were present, including the CEO, the Chairman, and other members of the Board of Directors. Representatives from the various construction teams involved in the project were also present, and they discussed the timeline for completing the project, which is expected to be completed by the end of 2011.
The Bukit Timah Line Stage 2 is part of the government’s effort to build a comprehensive and integrated public transport system in Singapore. The government is investing billions of dollars into the Bukit Timah Line, as well as other lines, in order to reduce traffic congestion and improve the overall quality of life for Singaporeans.
To ensure the success of the project, the construction teams have implemented several safety measures, such as the use of CCTV cameras, the installation of barriers and fencing, and the enforcement of strict safety regulations. In addition, the LTA has also established a dedicated team of engineers, technicians, and other personnel to monitor and inspect the construction sites.
The groundbreaking ceremony on the Bukit Timah Line Stage 2 marks an important milestone in Singapore’s infrastructure development and demonstrates the government’s commitment to providing efficient and reliable public transportation. With the completion of the Bukit Timah Line, Singaporeans will be able to enjoy the convenience of a faster and more reliable journey when travelling between the northwest and the southwest of Singapore.
