SLA announces new geospatial collaborations

The Singapore Land Authority (SLA) has taken concrete actions to solve various challenges through geospatial technology. At an event on March 15, Senior Minister of State, Ministry of Sustainability and Environment, and Ministry of Transport, Dr Amy Khor announced several collaborations for this purpose.

The SLA signed an agreement with the Container Depot and Logistics Association (Singapore) or CDAS. It includes the use of geospatial data on road conditions and restrictions to help route heavy vehicles operated by CDAS’s member companies. This partnership will last for two years.

In another collaboration, SLA is working with the General Authority for Survey and Geospatial Information of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (GEOSA). Over the next three years, the two organisations will exchange knowledge and experiences in the areas of geospatial database development, Digital Twins, digital transformation in the geospatial industry, and the production of geospatial products & services.

Furthermore, SLA is also in a collaboration with SG Enable and Gardens by the Bay. The scope of this partnership is mapping out barrier-free routes which will help wheelchair users to navigate places with ease. It is one of the many initiatives to help build an inclusive society according to the Singapore Enabling Master Plan 2030.

CDL Aries secures rights to two adjoining plots in Tan Chong industrial park in Upper Bukit Timah, allowing for potential new residential The Myst project in the up-and-coming neighbourhood.

The barrier-free routes, which consist of covered linkways, ramps, footpaths, pedestrian crossings, overhead bridges with lifts and more, are collected and mapped in Bukit Merah and Gardens by the Bay. An app has been created with the access routes to gather feedback from wheelchair users. In the coming months, this data accuracy and user-friendliness will be improved and the app will be tested in additional areas. Eventually, the barrier-free access route will be integrated as an additional wayfinding mode on OneMap, in addition to the existing public transport, cycling, and driving modes.
