Unveiling of Station Locations and Finalised Route for 21 Kilometre Long Stage 3 of Downtown Line Connecting Chinatown to Expo

The Singapore Land Transport Authority (LTA) has recently unveiled the station locations and finalised route for the 21 kilometre long Stage 3 of the Downtown Line (DTL). This is the longest line to be built by the LTA, and it will connect Chinatown to Expo.

The DTL Stage 3 will consist of 16 stations, and will run from Tampines North to Expo. It will be the first line to connect to the Changi Airport, and will also link to the East-West Line and the Circle Line. The stations will be located along the East Coast Parkway, Tampines Expressway, Tampines Avenue 1, Bedok South Avenue 3 and Upper Changi Road East.

The Tampines North station will be located at the junction of Tampines Avenue 1 and Tampines Link, and will provide an interchange with the East-West Line. The Bedok South station will be located at the junction of Bedok South Avenue 3, Bedok South Road and Bedok South Link. This station will provide an interchange with the East-West Line and the Circle Line.

The LTA has also announced that the DTL Stage 3 will have two new stations, Bedok North and Upper Changi, located along the route. Bedok North station will be located at the junction of Bedok North Avenue 3 and Bedok North Drive, and will provide an interchange with the East-West Line. The Upper Changi station will be located at the junction of Upper Changi Road East and Chai Chee Road, and will provide an interchange with the East-West Line and the Circle Line.

The DTL Stage 3 is expected to be completed in 2025, and is expected to cater to an estimated 600,000 commuters daily. It is estimated to cost around S$5.5 billion and is expected to reduce travel time between Chinatown and Expo by 20 minutes.

The construction of the DTL Stage 3 will also bring about new opportunities for residential and commercial developments along the route. It will also provide better access to the Changi Airport and better connectivity to the East-West Line and the Circle Line.

The LTA has also announced that the DTL Stage 3 will have a new signalling system, which will enable faster train services. This new signalling system will also facilitate the integration of the DTL with other lines in the future.

The LTA has also announced that it will be carrying out extensive public engagement activities and consultation sessions with the public to ensure that the DTL Stage 3 meets the needs of the local community and commuters.

The LTA has also announced that the construction of the DTL Stage 3 will create more than 3,000 jobs, and will contribute to the growth of Singapore’s construction industry. This new line is expected to have a positive impact on Singapore’s economy, and will improve the access to key locations such as the Changi Airport, the East-West Line and the Circle Line.

The DTL3 will have 16 stations, with 9 elevated stations and 7 underground stations. The stations are located at:

– Kaki Bukit
– Ubi
– MacPherson
– Bartley
– Tai Seng
– Mattar
– Geylang Bahru
– Boon Keng
– Farrer Park
– Jalan Besar
– Chinatown

The route of the DTL3 will start at the Singapore Expo, and run through Changi Airport, Tampines East, Bedok North, Kaki Bukit, Ubi, MacPherson, Bartley, Tai Seng, Mattar, Geylang Bahru, Boon Keng, Farrer Park, Jalan Besar, before ending at Chinatown. It will be connected to the existing Downtown Line 1 and 2, as well as the North East Line at the Expo, MacPherson and Chinatown stations.

This new stage of the Downtown Line is expected to serve an estimated 400,000 commuters daily, helping to reduce travel time between the East and North East of Singapore. The new line will also be connected to the Changi Airport, making transportation to and from the airport more convenient.

The LTA has already started preparations for the construction of the DTL3, and it is expected to be completed in 2024. This new stage of the Downtown Line will greatly enhance Singapore’s public transport network, and make travelling across the island more convenient for commuters.
